About Somoy TV
Somoy TV is a 24-hour Bengali-language news channel based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and primarily owned by City Group. It began commercial broadcasting in 2011 and has transmitted via Bangladesh's own national satellite since 2019. The channel airs rolling national and international news, political talk shows, business updates, sports and live coverage of major events.
Its YouTube channel is one of the largest news channels in Bangladesh and was the first in the country to receive a Diamond Play Button. In August 2024 the station went off air after attacks during political unrest and returned later that month under new management. Several fact-checking organisations have flagged it as a source of misinformation. Viewers can watch the live broadcast officially on its YouTube channel, which streams the TV feed around the clock.
