This cookie statement explains which cookies and similar browser storage TVOPEDIA uses, why, and how you can control them. For the full picture of how we handle information, see our privacy policy.
What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a site keep small pieces of information on your device. Our own items stay on your device and are not used to track you.
Your consent choices (Complianz)
We use the Complianz consent tool. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or deny optional cookies, or choose by category (statistics, marketing). Until you accept, optional cookies and embedded players from other companies are not loaded. Your choice is saved in small Complianz cookies (their names start with cmplz_) so the banner does not appear on every page. You can change your choice at any time:
Necessary storage used by TVOPEDIA
TVOPEDIA uses local storage in your browser for these features only:
- My channels: remembers the channels you save, so you can find them again without an account.
- Your country: remembers the country detected for “Channels from your country” on the home page.
- Seen markers: notes that you recently viewed a channel page, so the view counter does not count the same visit twice.
- Accessibility settings: the accessibility menu may save your display preferences so they stay in place as you move between pages.
Security cookies (Cloudflare)
The site is served through Cloudflare, which may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the site from bots and abuse.
Statistics cookies (Google Analytics)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use, so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies whose names start with _ga. If you deny statistics cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded.
Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
TVOPEDIA shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and, if you allow it, personalise ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s certified consent message asks for your choice before these cookies are used, and lets you change it later. You can also manage ad personalisation in Google’s ad settings.
Embedded players
Official embedded players are served by broadcasters or platforms such as YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo and Twitch. On channel pages the player loads only after you press play, and YouTube players use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video plays, the provider may store its own cookies or local storage under its own policy. We do not control them.
How to control cookies
- Consent banner: use the consent settings above, or the consent tab at the bottom of every page, to accept or refuse optional cookies.
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies and clear site data for tvopedia.com. Clearing site data also removes your My channels list.
- Private browsing: storage is usually cleared when you close the private window.
Blocking necessary storage may stop features such as My channels from working. Questions are welcome at [email protected], and more answers are on the help page. See also our terms of service.
