About SR Fernsehen
SR Fernsehen is the regional television channel of Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR), the public broadcaster for the German state of Saarland and a member of the ARD network, headquartered at the Halberg broadcasting centre in Saarbrücken. It is one of the ARD's regional "third programmes" and has operated as a separate channel since 1998, after previously sharing the joint Südwest 3 service.
Programming in German centres on Saarland news such as the regional bulletin "aktueller bericht", current affairs, culture, sport, entertainment and documentaries, alongside programmes shared with other ARD broadcasters. Viewers can watch the channel live on the official livestream page at sr.de, which uses the ARD player, and in the ARD Mediathek. Some programmes may be restricted to viewers in Germany for rights reasons. SR also runs several radio stations, including SR 1, SR 2 KulturRadio and SR 3 Saarlandwelle.
