About Extra TV
Extra TV is a Costa Rican television channel belonging to Grupo Extra, the media group behind the newspaper Diario Extra. Historically known as Extra TV 42 after its UHF frequency, it is carried on cable and digital television in Costa Rica. The group went through a financial crisis in 2023, when its operations were briefly halted before Grupo Transcomer acquired its assets and kept the media outlets running.
The channel's long-running news service ended in 2020, and its current schedule centres on general entertainment and studio programs in Spanish. Viewers can watch the channel live on the Extra TV page of the Diario Extra website, which hosts the official player alongside live audio from the group's radio stations, and the station also publishes content on its YouTube channel.
