About TVR Internațional (TVRi)

TVR Internațional, usually shortened to TVRi, is the international channel of Televiziunea Română (TVR), Romania's public broadcaster. It launched on 1 December 1995 and is aimed mainly at Romanians living abroad, carrying a mix of news, current affairs, culture, entertainment and programmes drawn from TVR's domestic channels.

Most programming is in Romanian, with some content in Hungarian, German, Romani and English for minority audiences and international viewers. The channel is distributed by satellite and cable in many countries, and since 2020 an HD feed has been available online. TVRi can be watched live for free on TVR's own streaming platform, TVR+ (tvrplus.ro), which requires a free user account, while TVR's main website at tvr.ro carries news and programme information.
