About Venezolana de Televisión
Venezolana de Televisión, known as VTV, is Venezuela's main state-owned television network, based in Caracas and administered through the Ministry of Popular Power for Communication and Information. It began broadcasting on 1 August 1964 as a private station and later passed to state ownership. VTV airs on VHF channel 8 and on digital terrestrial television, as well as on cable and satellite.
Its schedule focuses on news bulletins, official events and government broadcasts, political opinion programmes, interviews, cultural and sports content, all in Spanish. In earlier decades the network also produced telenovelas. VTV is part of a group of public channels that includes teleSUR and ViVe. Viewers can watch the live signal on the VTV website, which embeds the broadcaster's official YouTube live stream, and on that YouTube channel directly.
