About NTV

NTV is a national Russian television network that started broadcasting on 10 October 1993 and has been controlled by Gazprom Media since April 2001. Based in Moscow, it is one of the country's major federal channels and is available free-to-air throughout Russia. The schedule mixes news bulletins under the Segodnya brand, current affairs and talk shows, investigative and documentary programmes, crime dramas and other Russian-produced series, entertainment shows and occasional sports coverage.

Programming is in Russian. The channel streams its live broadcast around the clock on the official website at ntv.ru, where episodes of its shows are also available on demand. In May 2022 the United States Treasury added the NTV Broadcasting Company to its sanctions list. The co-founders have said that the name NTV has no official meaning.
